Markeĺle Fultz thinks him and Isaiah Thomas 'would be a great fit'

Markelle Fultz visited the Boston Celtics earlier this week as part of his NBA Draft duties, and the buzz over the Washington Huskies star has grown as a result. Fultz is widely expected to be Boston’s number 1 pick in the draft on June 22nd.

Yet the selecting of a young point guard has thrown the future of Isaiah Thomas into doubt. Thomas may be the current face of the franchise, but there’s no guarantee he receives a max contract offer next summer when he is due to hit free agency.

For now, however, both Thomas and Fultz will be sharing a locker room if the 19-year-old is selected by the Celtics, and Fultz has aimed to dispel any concerns the two can’t play together, per ESPN's Chris Forsberg;
“I think me and him would be a great fit. Just playing on and off the ball. He can go to 2, maybe I can go to 2. Being Huskies, we already got a connection. Being able to play together, we’re going to motivate each other, we’re going to help each other out. I think it would be something special.”

The thought of both Thomas and Fultz sharing the court together is an intriguing one for the Celtics faithful. Both can score at will, and despite concerns over Thomas’ defensive presence, it still doesn’t take away from the excitement of such a back court.

Of course, there aren’t any guarantees just yet of what Danny Ainge will do with that number one pick. Until Fultz is posing with a Celtics cap on June 22nd, such dream scenarios will have to wait to become a reality. But, with that date getting ever closer, Boston won’t have to wait long to welcome their new basketball hero. And the overwhelming positive reaction Fultz’ visit received this week might have left the front office with an easier choice to make.
