Countdown to the trade deadline - YOUR view on a Boogie2BOS trade
It seems that Boston Celtics fans are more forgiving than you might think when it comes to DeMarcus Cousins.
This season, at Celticslife, we've been taking a different approach to the plethora of trade rumors and trade suggestions pundits have been circulating involving the Celtics. That so many do involve the Celts is a testimony to Danny Ainge's capabilities as general manager, but after awhile, the fan base seems to have become a little tired of the rumor mill, especially when it comes to retreads.
Cue a cavalcade of questionable behavior for Boogie Cousins - from fisticuffs in an outing with teammate Matt Barnes to berating the local media, to ejecting his mouthpiece and getting...ejected, it's all good in Beantown, or so it seems from the poll returns inquiring about your interest in trading for Cousins.
The Ayes have it - by a lot:
Nearly two-thirds of you are on board for Boogie - no questions asked. This might seem imprudent (see also: Fear the Boogie Man), but so does passing by a shot at a top-ten talent in the league on the younger side of his career.
There's plenty to be worried about based on his behavior, even if you think a lot of it can be based on the dysfunction factory that is the Sacramento Kings front office - as evidenced by the quarter of you who want to know what we'll be ponying up to get a year and change (and possibly more) of his services. Ten percent of you want nothing to do with him regardless of what the offer is, and based on his recent high media profile for all the wrong reasons - well, we understand where you're coming from.
When it comes to brass tacks, though, most expect a bargain of a trade:
Whether it's the aforementioned controversy, or just hope for a real-world version of Bill Simmons' "Heist", more than half of you think DeMarcus could be had for non-lottery (i.e. Brooklyn Nets) picks and salary match - or just salary match if the players offered were right. Let me just say that while the Kings may be a mess, they aren't stupid.
Well, not that stupid.
I simply do not see a world in which DMC is wearing green without us letting go of at least the 2018 Brooklyn pick without protection, or maybe a top-three protection on this year's Nets' swap. Then again, this is Trader Danny we're talking about, so I'll suspend belief, and cut to your trade offers and thoughts.
Some of you bid high:
Some of you want nothing to do with him:
Some of you have other ideas:
And some of you had jokes:
