Recap: Celtics take care of the Bucks at home, 124-109

Boston's men in green easily put away the Milwaukee Bucks, 124-109 and got a great night of contribution from their bench.

The first half for the Celtics started out slow but they quickly picked up the pace to battle against the Bucks. Both teams exchanged punches in the first quarter which saw the Bucks lead 35-30, but the Celts bounced back and outscored Milwaukee 35-23 in the 2nd quarter to take a 65-58 lead into halftime. Isaiah Thomas led the Cs in the first half with 16 points while Tyler Zeller and Kelly Olynyk contributed 9 points each off the bench. For Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 20 points in the first half. Notably, Marcus Smart fired off a full court pass to Sullinger for a beautiful layup to end the half at the buzzer.

In the second half, the Celts came out absolutely firing and continued to attack the Bucks' defense with tremendous inside scoring. The green team outscored the Bucks 36-22 in the third and took a 101-80 lead into the final quarter. Evan Turner and Marcus Smart both made some tremendous plays with the ball and got the rock to the open man in transition. In the fourth, the story was much of the same. With the starters sitting for the entire quarter, Zeller continued to take over the game with his tremendous positioning and cutting. As a team Boston finished with more than 30 assists on the night and continued to move the ball efficiently.

For the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas scored 20 points on 7-9 shooting and also had his streak of leading the Celts in scoring broken by none another than our beloved Tyler Zeller. The Big Z managed to score a career high 26 points on a terrific 9-13 from the field and 8-9 from the charity stripe. He also had four blocks as well. Kelly Olynyk also had a great game off the bench with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Evan Turner and Marcus Smart contributed a combined 18 assists. Avery Bradley also chipped in 16 points of his own.

Boston (47-32) now flies to Atlanta to take on the Hawks in a big game tomorrow night. More importantly, Miami lost and that gives Boston a one game cushion in the standings. Tip-off for tomorrow night's game is at 7:30 P.M.
