Boston Celtics reportedly interested in Dwight Howard

As the NBA Trade Deadline inches closer and closer, get ready for a few rumors like this everyday.

According to Frank Isola of The New York Daily News, the Boston Celtics are talking to the Houston Rockets about center Dwight Howard.

Meanwhile, the Celtics have engaged the Houston Rockets in talks about a possible deal for Dwight Howard, the Daily News has learned. Howard can opt out of his contract this summer, and considering his back and knee issues, it doesn’t make much sense for Boston GM Danny Ainge to use the assets on a player with declining skills and a battered body.

This piece of information was included in an article Isola wrote about the Knicks' need to do something by the deadline, so in the sense this isn't anything new for Celtics fans. We get included in trade rumors like this all the time, especially in the modern era when Trader Danny is linked to every team in basketball.

And then the voice of the Celtics Mike Gorman went on 98.5 The Sports Hub with Toucher and Rich and spoke candidly about the rumor... which is accurate.

While Gorman stops short of saying that Ainge & Co. are pursuing Howard, he does reiterate that the Celtics are answering the phone and listening to offers.

The Celtics have seemed quiet when it comes to trades this season... which means there's a storm brewing.
