NBA news: Clippers trade for Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson's stay in Charlotte lasted just one year, as the Clippers traded for the former key member of the Pacers.
In a high-risk, high-reward move, the Los Angeles Clippers have acquired guard Lance Stephenson from the Charlotte Hornets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Clippers are sending forwards Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes to the Hornets, sources said. The teams were having a trade call with the NBA office to finalize the deal on Monday evening, sources said.

Woj calls the trade a high-risk move, but I'm going to disagree with that. Spencer Hawes was in Doc's doghouse ad they get out of his contract with this trade. If Lance works out for the Clippers they can exercise their team option and keep him another year at a discounted rate. If he doesn't work out they can just let him go this season (something they couldn't do with Hawes).

For the Hornets they remove the Stephenson headache and they get another big man to add to their crowded post rotation.
