Woj believes Celtics are a legit contender for Kevin Love
The Kevin Love to the Celtics rumors are starting to heat up. Following up on Mark's post yesterday on the possibility of Love leaving Cleveland, Adrian Wojnarowski seems to think the Celtics, Lakers, and Rockets could be the front-runners as potential Love landing spots.
“I think he’s going to look around. I think he’s going to look closely at Boston. I think he’ll look at LA. I’m sure the Texas teams are going to try and get involved."
In Woj's appearance on The Jason McIntyre Show podcast on Yahoo! Sports Radio, he referred to the Celtics as a "real, legitimate possibility", and mentions Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens as a recruiting duo who could sell him on the team.
Communication from teams is huge for the Love camp right now, as they are not particularly satisfied with the way he was used in Cleveland, and would be trying to avoid that situation repeating itself.
In time we may be thanking Kelly Olynyk for injuring Love. Watching the Cav's thrive without him and seeing the fans (and LeBron James) become enamored with Tristan Thompson's play may be contributing to Love looking elsewhere.
With the Western Conference appearing to be much tougher than the Eastern Conference for at least the next couple of years, I think it would make sense for all free agents (Love included) to take a good look at the East and teams there with potential. Our Celtics are definitely that, and with Ainge and Stevens as your spokesmen for the franchise, I think the Celtics have as good a chance as ever at landing a big time free agent.
