Houston Rockets to sign Josh Smith, extend Kevin McHale for three years
Josh Smith has committed to signing with the Houston Rockets, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. He clears waivers at 5 PM today.

If Smith can play half as good as he did in Atlanta and resist the temptation to become the next Ray Allen he should be able to contribute to the Rockets.
Then again, I'm not sure Kevin McHale is the right coach to get the best out of Smith, considering Stan Van Gundy couldn't get him to perform.
Despite this, the Rockets want McHale as their coach for the long term:
McHale's deal will be worth nearly $13 million over the three seasons, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Western Conference keeps getting wilder.
