Update: Joel Embiid's agent confirms he injured his foot
ESPN is reporting the possible first overall pick hurt his foot:
Update with Embiid's agent:
"He suffered a foot injury to his right foot sometime over the last few days," agent Arn Tellem told ESPN's Andy Katz by phone Thursday. "He's getting evaluations from various doctors and experts in the field. We'll know more Friday."
One source told ESPN.com that Embiid "may have broken" his foot, but Tellem wouldn't speculate on the seriousness of the injury until he had heard from doctors. Tellem also said it was unlikely Embiid would be doing any more workouts before the draft, which is June 26.
From earlier:
Luc Mbah a Moute, who is overseas, was not certain as to the extent of the injury. It also is unclear as to which foot was injured.
"I just heard he got hurt," Mbah a Moute said.
Mbah a Moute is Embiid's mentor and one of the first to discover the big man in Africa.
So what does this mean? Could Embiid fall to Boston at No. 6? Will the top drafting teams not care because of his immense potential?
The bigger questions is if Embiid does slip to Boston, with a healing stress fracture in his back and now a reported foot injury, is it worth picking him? If his foot is broken, that's two relatively big injuries in a short amount of time for Embiid. When it comes to seven-footers, there are two types of injuries you want to avoid, back injuries and leg injuries. Embiid has now had both.
Would you still take him? Sound of in the comments section.
