Paul Pierce has scoring outburst in first 7 minutes against the Lakers
Future Celtic Hall of Famer Paul Pierce had a scoring outburst tonight in the first 7 minutes of Brooklyn's game against his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.
Pierce had 14 points at the 5:01 mark in the first quarter after he had scored 4 different three point plays (three from deep, 1 and one). His third shot from behind the arc put the Nets up 27-10.
For those keeping track at home Pierce was 5-5 at this point including 3-3 from long range and 1-1 from the stripe.
The Truth finished with one of his better games of the season with 25 points on 9-17 shooting as well as snagging 7 rebounds.
Pierce and Deron Williams also finished with the highest +/- for the game at plus 12 as the Nets outlasted the Lakers 108-102.
Additionally, the win propelled the Nets to the number six playoff spot in the East.
Brooklyn definitely wants to maintain this position or higher by playoff time meaning they would not have to face off against the Pacers or Heat in the first round.
Marshon Brooks, who had 14 points on 7-11 shooting in a win against his former Boston teammates two nights ago in L.A., finished with 7 points on 3-7 shooting including one three for the Lakers.
