Video: Emotional Doc Rivers, "People don't get Boston. You have to be part of it to get it."
Doc Rivers was obviously touched by the reception he got in the Garden. He so clearly felt strongly about this city, and if you're not a cynic, you can tell by what he's said since leaving that it wasn't easy for him to part ways.
It was very classy of Celtics fans, and an emotional moment in the Garden. Doc gets choked up trying to talk about it, eventually turning the conversation towards basketball. Doc was caught on camera getting a little emotional during the video tribute to him.
"This is an amazing fan base, it really is," says Doc. I just want everything to go well for them."

"I'm still emotional. I thought the fans were...It was a really nice day," he said. "It's such a classy place here. I was basically useless for the first 18 minutes of the game. It's an amazing fan base. I just want everything to go well for them."
"People don't get Boston," Rivers said. "You have to be part of it to get it. It's a special place. The best decision I ever made was 10 years ago."
