Celtics reportedly offered Jeff Green to get Omer Asik, still trying to make a deal?

It looks as though Boston was at one time working on a potential three team trade that would have brought Omer Asik to the Celtics and sent Jeff Green to Cleveland.  From Bob Finnan of the Cleveland News-Herald:

"It doesn’t appear as if the Cavs had any interest in Asik. They did talk about being the third team to help facilitate a possible deal. In that scenario, the Cavs would have had to give up Varejao or a first-rounder and reportedly get back Celtics small forward Jeff Green."

While many Boston fans may have been OK with the idea of parting with Brandon Bass and Courtney Lee for the Houston Rockets center, the departure of Uncle Jeff probably would have caused a little more discontent.

And in the never say die saga of Asik trade rumors, Yahoo's Marc J. Spears claims the Celtics and Houston aren't done trying to work something out:

"The Rockets let their self-imposed deadline to trade center Omer Asik pass, but Boston is still having trade discussions in hopes of landing him, a source said."
