Kelly Olynyk Signs with Boston
After 2 strong summer-league performances for the Celtics, Kelly Olynyk has officially signed with the team. To be honest, these rookies almost always sign, but it's good to see that both sides came to a quick agreement and avoided a J.D. Drew or Royce White type fiasco.
Taken with Boston's 13th pick, Olynyk is a 7 footer with good mobility, nice skills, and a great shooting touch. However, he has a relatively short 6'10" wingspan with limited leaping ability and quickness, so he brings both the good and the bad to the table.
You obviously don't want to put too much faith into summer league stats, but the 22 year-old has looked good with 38 points (14-21), 3 3's, 7 steals, and 13 rebounds in 2 games. So far he's putting up numbers similar to Sullinger's last summer, so let's hope he can bring similar productivity without any herniated discs.
What do you expect from Olynyk? A promising rookie, or another Jajuan Johnson/Darko Milicic? Let us know in the comments below.
