Jason Terry returns to Dallas for the first time since leaving Mavericks
Jason Terry will play his first game in Dallas tonight since leaving the Mavericks to join Boston in the offseason.
Terry was the second best player on the Mavericks squad that beat Miami for the 2011 championship. While the Dallas native wanted to stay with the Mavericks and even offered the team the chance to match the offer the Celtics made to the Jet, Mark Cuban and his management decided to go another direction and try to rebuild. Time will tell if that strategy will work out.
As for Terry's performance in Boston, he has certainly not lived up to his sixth man of the year expectations. Blame it on age, game plan or talent around him, but Terry has not been the player most people thought he could be this season. He has plenty of playoff experience, however, so hopefully he can start to prove Danny Ainge right by singing for him during the Celtics second season.
Here are some tweets from Mavericks beat writer Dwain Price quoting Dallas players and coach Rick Carlisle talking about Terry:
#Mavs F Dirk Nowitzki on Jason Terry: "On the floor we all know what he meant to us. One of the best clutch shooters I’ve played with."

“He played a big part in us winning the championship, and we’ve got a bond together for life.'' -- #Mavs F Shawn Marion on Jason Terry

“He’s one of the most beloved players, I think, in the history of this franchise." -- #Mavs coach Rick Carlisle on #Celtics G Jason Terry

And from Terry himself:
"Our main goal is to get the win, obviously. But to see everyone is going to be heart-warming.'' -- #Celtics G Jason Terry
