| Afraid of the big city? |
Earlier today it was reported that the Celtics were looking at
a short list of big men to add to their roster. One of those is Tim Ohlbrect, a 24 year old 6'11" center from Germany currently playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D-League.
According to Sportando.net (via reddit) Ohlbrect had turned down a 10-day contract offer from Boston. I see three possibilities here:
- This story is just not true.
- He expects another NBA team he likes better to pick him up.
- Hidalgo Texas (home of the Vipers) is the greatest place in the world.
Ohlbrect is averaging 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game for Rio Grande Valley, similar D-League numbers to
those Maine Red Claws legend Fab Melo.
