German D-Leaguer allegedly prefers Hidalgo, TX to Boston

Afraid of the big city?
Earlier today it was reported that the Celtics were looking at a short list of big men to add to their roster.  One of those is Tim Ohlbrect, a 24 year old 6'11" center from Germany currently playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D-League.  According to Sportando.net (via reddit) Ohlbrect had turned down a 10-day contract offer from Boston.  I see three possibilities here:

  1. This story is just not true.
  2. He expects another NBA team he likes better to pick him up.
  3. Hidalgo Texas (home of the Vipers) is the greatest place in the world.
Ohlbrect is averaging 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game for Rio Grande Valley, similar D-League numbers to those Maine Red Claws legend Fab Melo.
