Celtics jump to #12 in ESPN power rankings

Jerry Sichting wore #12 from 1985-88
The weekly edition of Marc Stein's ESPN NBA power rankings is out, and the Celtics find themselves at #12, five spots higher than last week.  For the first time in a long time I have no complaints.

Boston's 27-23 record and 7 game winning streak have finally moved them past the 24-28 Lakers at #13 (the blowout win at the Garden last Thursday probably helped as well).  The C's also managed to land ahead of the 28-24 Jazz (#14), the 29-22 Nets (#15), and the 27-22 Hawks (#20), who Stein continues to have no faith in.

Just in front of Boston are the Atlantic Division leading 32-17 Knicks (#10), and the 30-20 Bulls (#11).  Boston host Chicago on Wednesday in the final game before the All-Star break.
