Boston Celtics: a future in green

Sunday's game against Miami became an instant classic with Boston's double-overtime win sans their mercurial point guard. It was a gritty win for the Celtics, but the excitement wore off as soon as they learned of Rondo's season ending injury.

Even if Rondo had played, it still does not mask the obvious lack of energy that they display on a nightly basis. The type needed when people are gunning for you. Especially when you are employed by a franchise that owns twice as many championship than any other team not named the Los Angeles Lakers.

There is a lot of green envy in the NBA against the Celtics and this present roster has no clue as to what it takes.

Maybe this game against Miami with LeBron getting his numbers and Ray Allen doing his best to play Celtic-killer wakes them up. The Celtics got a much needed win against a team they match -up very well with on paper. It was a confidence booster amidst a six game losing streak that seemed destined to be seven.

This still does not change the fact that a trade is needed to be made or additional line-up changes need to be considered.  Now the real test begins.

Rondo's ACL injury gives Danny an opportunity to not only evaluate the players, but also the coaching staff.  Boston is in trouble, just how much trouble won't be known till the trading deadline.
