Stern has been the league's commissioner since 1984, and of the four major sports he is the longest tenured at that position. While this is huge news on the NBA landscape, maybe it really shouldn't be all that surprising. Stern is 70 years old; nearly triple the average age of the players in his league.
It's been a long time since he shook hand's with #1 overall pick Hakeem Olajuwon on draft night...
