I was wrong about TA

As many of you know, I've always had a tolerate/hate relationship with Tony Allen.  I've tolerated his boneheaded plays because I love the Celtics. At the same time I've hated him for being such a mess on the court.  I never thought I'd say this, but so far this season Tony Allen has proved me wrong.  Look, I'm not going to get all gushy about him because it only has been 5 or 6 games since he came back.  However, I will admit I was wrong for forming my own conclusions about how he would do without giving him a chance.

Allen has not only been a serviceable player off the bench, but has often been, dare I say, productive. He is active in the passing lanes and can finish above the rim extremely well.  While his ball handling and decision making still gives me heart palpitations, I've gotten to the point where I don't groan and curse at the TV when he comes in.

I'm looking forward to doing something I never thought I would do at tonight's game at the Banknorth Garden.  When Tony Allen's name is announced I will stand up and cheer.  Not in sarcasm, but as a true believer in Tony Allen as a basketball player.  Let's hope he continues to provide a sorely needed spark off the Celtics bench.
