Concerned about Rondo
When asked how talks were coming, Rondo said, “Ask my agent.
“I don’t really think about that, I just try to focus on camp,’’ he said. “If it’s going to happen it’s going to happen. If not, I’ll play it out. I want to be wherever I’m wanted the next 10 years. If Danny wants me, I’ll be here the next 10 years.’’
Ainge’s comments ran along the same lines.
“Our intention is to have Rondo as our franchise point guard for a decade.

Rajon Rondo is the most important player on the Celtics. Not the best, but the most important to the success of there season. Say what you want about the Big 3, but if you take Rondo off this team there is no banner 18. This article worries me a bit. It sounds to me like everyone is trying to say the right thing, but they don't actually mean it. Ainge has done a great job overall, especially in the last few years, but he made a mistake on this one. Franchise point guards are hard to find, and I believe Rondo can be one. I can understand what Ainge is thinking. The Celtics have about a 2-3 year window to win a championship, and if he could get a package of solid young players for Rondo it might be worth it. But here is the deal. Too many times in sports teams try to build for the future while forgetting the present. You play to win championships and if that means sacrificing 4 or 5 years afterwards so be it. If the Celtics don't win another title for 10 years it was still worth bringing in KG and Ray Allen because they won the title.

I think ultimately a deal will get done and that the whole Rondo saga was just talk. However, at the end of the day the NBA is a business and Rondo is going to want to get paid. Also, remember NBA players have egos through the roof. You have to think Rondo was hurt by all the trade talk. It should be interesting to see how this all pans out.
