On this date in 2008, Celtics defense too much for LeBron as James suffers worst performance of career

On this date in 2008, Kevin Garnett scored 28 points to lead the Celtics past the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of their conference semifinals playoff series. The Celtics stifling defense also completely shut down Lebron James as he shot a putrid 2-for-18 from the field and turned the ball over ten times, in what has been called (and statistically is backed up) the worst performance of his career.

The Celtics would go on to defeat the Cavs, and then the Detroit Pistons, and finally their longtime rival Los Angeles Lakers to win Banner #17. The Celtics would defeat the Cavs once again in 2010 and LeBron realizing that he couldn't get past the Celtics unless he formed a superteam would link up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh that summer in Miami.
