Sometimes, a rivalry doesn't just transcend the test of time, it transcends entire sports.

And last night, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were up to exactly this, expanding the parameters of their decades-long friendly enmity into an entirely new sport.

Spurred by the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox competing in this year's World Series, the two went at it in a video aired on the LED screen at Dodger Stadium.

The pair traded friendly jabs before Bird prophetically donned a Sox cap, claiming he's "going to need this to keep the light out of my eyes, because that trophy is shiny bright."

Better luck never, Magic.
