Watch: What's keeping Kyrie from signing an extension in Boston?

There's been a lot of buzz in the last day or so about Kyrie Irving deciding not to sign an extension with the Boston Celtics, but not enough attention to why he decided this course of action.

For those who keep an eye on the salary cap in the NBA, there's simply nothing to see here, at least as far as the decision itself is concerned, as Irving would lose nearly $80 million in potential earnings for doing so.

Another unexpected postseason rumor, that former teammate LeBron James might consider decamping to Boston himself has forced its way into this conversation, however, with many speculating such a move might alienate Kyrie, and risk sending him packing in free agency.

Losing an All Star-level talent simply cannot happen for a good general manager, which is a description almost anyone would agree fits Danny Ainge. So should he be reacting to the potential for losing Irving by avoiding James...or trading Kyrie?

Watch the videos below to hear a wide variety of opinions on the matter circulating in national and regional NBA media spheres as well from Irving himself - let us know your thoughts on their opinions on the matter in the comments below.

You don't need to hold back about the folks at Sports Illustrated, either.
