Houston Rockets set to acquire Jason Terry from the Kings

The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement in principle to acquire Sacramento Kings guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Rockets will send a package centered on non-guaranteed contracts, including Alonzo Gee, that the Kings can ultimately waive and gain salary savings and roster space, league sources said. Sacramento will send Houston two second-round picks in the deal, including one via the Knicks, league sources told Yahoo.

Jason Terry struggled in his one season with the Celtics, but had a strong playoff performance. Terry was expected to contribute to a contending Brooklyn Nets squad last season under his former teammate Jason Kidd, but never really got the minutes to do anything. He was traded to the Kings, but never played for them. Terry could be a good fit as a shooter off the bench for the Rockets. Or he could be washed up, but at least the Rockets get two 2nd rounders for taking him on. Either way seems like a solid trade for Houston, which had a lousy Summer, losing Parsons and missing out on Bosh after trading Asik and Lin to pave the way for another star.
