Marcus Smart has good 2nd workout with the Celtics, says "they like my competitiveness"

Draft Express as well as many Celtics Life writers project that the Boston Celtics will take Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart with the #6 pick in tonight's NBA draft.

Smart had a second workout for the Celtics yesterday -- something that none of the other players that could potentially be selected at the #6 spot (Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon, Noah Vonleh) have opted to do. A report circulated yesterday that the Celtics had narrowed down their options for the #6 pick to Smart and Randle, so perhaps Smart's second workout could be the deciding factor for the Celtics. Plus, it seems that Randle skipped a potential second workout with Boston for a GQ photoshoot.

Smart told the media that his second workout went well, and the Celtics have shown great interest in his talent and competitive drive. Smart also appreciates the Celtics coaching staff's involvement and energy.

From the Boston Herald:

Smart is happy with both his Boston sessions.

"You can definitely tell the energy's there with those guys," he said. "It's a great coaching staff. They interact well with their players, and they love to be involved. And that's what you expect out of a coaching staff.

"They're still very interested in me, and they like my competitiveness. I'm one of the top guys in the talk about them choosing me."

During Smart's first workout for the Celtics, he expressed his desire to play alongside and learn from Rajon Rondo, stating "Rondo's one of the greatest point guards to ever play this game." However, even if Smart is selected by Boston tonight, he might not be afforded the opportunity to play alongside Rondo, as many trade rumors have been circulated that involve sending Rondo to the Sacramento Kings. It's going to be an interesting night.
