Knicks pushing hard for Kyle Lowry

The New York Knicks just don't learn. After an incredibly disappointing start to the season, the Knicks are looking for help at point guard. Handcuffed from trading away so many first round draft picks and unwilling to give away either of their most attractive young pieces (Iman Shumpert/Tim Hardaway Jr.), the Knicks are going to have to be more realistic if they want to complete a deal.

Toronto's Kyle Lowry is the target of the Knicks, Lowry has been on the block since the Raptors acquired Greiveis Vasquez from the Kings. The Knicks declined a package that included Shumpert already and have made it clear Tim Hardaway Jr. is going nowhere.

Here is what Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting:

The New York Knicks are pursuing Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry with a package of Raymond Felton,Metta World Peace and a 2018 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Knicks refused a Raptors proposal that would've included Iman Shumpert and Felton, sources told Yahoo Sports. WIthout a first-round pick or Shumpert, there is no traction for a deal. The Knicks have no appetite for including Shumpert or rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. in a package.
So what do you do when you realize you have been dumping off first round picks that have come back to bite you? Obviously toss your next available first round pick into a trade. Lowry is a nice player, but he is far from the savior of the Knicks.

With their 2014 and 2016 picks traded away unprotected and things spiraling downhill in New York, how could you bring yourself to trade away your 2018 pick? All three will most likely be good picks, but hey, Celtics fans aren't going to complain if the Knicks keep shooting themselves in the foot. Maybe some day they will learn*.
