Metta World Peace: "Paul Pierce is the best trash talker in the NBA"

In an interview with the New York Post, World Peace acknowledges Paul Pierce as the NBA's best trash talker.

Q: Who’s the best trash talker in the NBA?
A: Paul Pierce is the only one left.
Q: Is he good?
A: He’s the best.
Q: What about Kevin Garnett?
A: Paul Pierce is the best.
Q: You used to dominate him, correct?
A: But I never talked trash, I’m not a trash talker.
Q: Tell me about your matchups with him.
A: It was wars. It was competitive. I love Paul. I love playing against Paul. He’s just so tough, he’s just so tough.

It's interesting that he said Paul Pierce was the best over Garnett. Perhaps it's because a lot of Garnett's curses and insults are directed towards himself, more so than his opponents. It's also interesting to hear the part where World Peace says "Paul Pierce is the only one left." Granted, the NBA is turning into a stricter league where you get a technical for staring at another player, but to say that Pierce is the only trash-talker left is a little off the mark. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Nate Robinson, (etc.) are all still in the league.

World Peace was right about the wars he and Pierce had though. The Finals matches were fun. Who can forget the little tangle-n-tumble those two had just seconds into the 2009-2010 Finals. World Peace may not have been a Celtic-favorite (especially after his dagger 3-pointer in Game 7 of those same finals), but it's good to see him give Pierce his props and respect.

Luckily, we won't have to see those battles end just yet. Even though both players switched cities during the offseason, they still ended up on rival teams, so hopefully we'll get to see an encore of these two battling it out.

Who else do you think currently deserves to be in the category "Best trash-talkers"?
