Doc talked with Stevens about coaching vacancy while still with C's

You can’t make this stuff up. While Doc Rivers was still the coach of the Boston Celtics, Doc and new Celtics coach Brad Stevens had talked about another coaching vacancy in the NBA. In an interesting interview with USA Today, Rivers had this to say:
"I'm a big Stevens fan, have always been," Rivers said. "It's funny, I talked to him about a month ago about another (NBA head coaching) job where somebody else was thinking about hiring him and the GM from there called me to talk to Brad to get a feel if he wanted to coach in the NBA."
Pretty ironic that Doc was testing the waters on Stevens leap to the NBA, and eventually he ends up filling in Docs shoes as he bolts to LA. Stevens must’ve been on a few teams radars, which makes me feel better about the signing. Doc continued:
"And then the way it works out," Rivers said, "four weeks later, he takes my job (laughs). It's funny. I told him that he'd be an excellent NBA coach, and he's ready for it. Whether you want to leave Butler or not, now that's up to you. I said that's a personal situation, and it's funny because I told him, I said, 'I'm going through that right now, and I don't know what I'm going to do.' Maybe the fact he saw me leave, he thinks, 'Well (expletive), I'm leaving too.'"
I know Doc is joking but obviously he has to bring it full circle and make it about himself. Good luck in LA Doc, Stevens is my guy.
