Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett both miss shootaround

The Celtics two best players continue to miss time, and it's not a good thing.

There's only one surprise here, and it's Pierce. He apparently hurt his ankle against New York on Sunday. He sat out the next game against Minnesota, which turned into another Celtics loss. Those losses have been piling up with the injuries. They've gone 0-2 in the two recent games Pierce has missed and since Kevin Garnett first started missing time due to injury, the Celtics are 3-7.

Yesterday, Doc stated pretty confidently that Pierce would play tonight and that he has only missed time due to "personal reasons". As Mike Dyer points to in the previous link, it could likely just be an excuse to give Paul Pierce some rest. If Pierce does miss tonight I would start to have some serious doubts on his health.

Celtics fans can claim to be as confident as they want in their favorite team, even without Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger. However, even the fan with the brightest green tinted glasses has to admit that if both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett aren't healthy, the team has no shot at beating the Miami Heat in the first round.
