Hawks trade Joe Johnson to Nets, Marvin Williams to Jazz

Yes, I used to be a Celtic. And yes
the C's retire too many numbers.
New Hawks GM Danny Ferry was able to accomplish the unthinkable today finding a taker for Joe Johnson and the remaining $90 million on his contract. In return the Hawks will receive Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson & the Rockets 2013 lottery protected first round pick. So Ferry got rid of that JJ contract, got a bunch of expiring contracts to play with, and somehow got the Nets to kick in a future first? Ferry has taken the early lead for executive of the year with that move.

The Nets GM Billy King continues to make poor moves and now the Nets no longer have the contracts to trade for Dwight Howard, nor will they have the cap space to sign him as a free agent. The Lakers now become the frontrunner to trade for Dwight "you can't blackmail me" Howard, which would make the Lakers very dangerous. Without the Brooklyn leverage, the Lakers mighteven now get Howard for less.

In a separate trade the Hawks moved the disappointing Marvin Williams to the Jazz for flopper extraordinaire Devin Harris (another expiring contract).
