This is a very serious matter. Ainge can't say much because employers aren't allowed to share private medical information on employees. Doc speculates after the jump that Green won't be ready for the beginning of the season. We won't know for sure until tomorrow, but right now we could be looking at Jeff Green returning in a couple weeks or on the other hand possibly even having to retire due to this serious medical issue (most likely a heart issue). Right now we can only hope and pray it's the former.

  1. YGR says:

WOW. if he does retire, we lost perk and nate for NOTHING. fuck this.

  2. JR says:

Well one concern I have is that the Celtics didn't have Green take a thorough enough physical when they traded for him. At that time if a red flag had come up they could have backed out of the trade.

  3. J says:

I really hope this turns outs to be okay...this is crazy, feel bad for JG, came in early & then this happens. Tough..

  4. Anonymous says:

We were losing Perk anyway. The Celtics were NOT resigning him.

  5. YGR says:

at anon above me^ well if we didn't waste our time trading him, we'd have the 9 mil we're paying Green to pay someone else. *cough* Delonte West *cough*

  6. Anonymous says:

I don't like the look on Danny's face in that picture there.

  7. Anonymous says:

Perk was leaving Boston anyway and Nate was contributing much in the end consistently. It just that if they were made aware of Green's medical condition sooner Danny would be in a better position to hired a another player at the start of this season when trading was permitted. How did OKC not know of the medical conditon???

  8. Anonymous says:

false. perk cried when he learned about the trade. his attitude was play tough and get the most money from danny. no way he was leaving his boi/rondo

  9. Molly says:

    trade for oj mayo
    boom, problem solved!

  10. that's a look of a very concerned gm

  11. shelbyl says:

Green was going to be the difference maker this season. This is not good news at all. I guess we have to wait till tomorrow, but keep your hopes down.

If he has a serious medical condition, do we get a trade/cap exemption or anything like that? How does it work?

  12. Peoples Champ says:

Theres prob somethin seriously wrong with his health n all you dicks can do is complain about the perk trade....go fuck yourself n follow another team!

  13. Anonymous says:

    THANKS Peoples Champ!
As if any of all this was Green fault. No one seems to remember that last year, before the trade, our bench's contribution was essentially whatever jumpers Baby managed to make of the 20 he took each game.
It's not Green's fault that he was dropped into a new role on a new team and expected to be 6th man of the year. He could've played better, but not save that run.
And now, almost a year later, the guy's health is in danger, he could be out of this league tomorrow, and we're still blaming the trade.

  14. BOCKNOWZ says:

2nite Danny Ainge need to sign Nick Young,Ryan Hollins, & Nate Robinson we need more role players to help the BIG4 out because they need more rest the way the season is going. Ainge should trade J.O`Neal,A.Bradley,E.Moore, & 1st round pick to Cleveland.Nick Young can be 6th man of the year. With O`Neal gone he can get 6million a year and we will be find.

Listen kids; stop doing whatever it is you little kids are into, and be a bit optimistic. JG is not gonna retire! Oh BTW, pls don't hate on Perk, but also don't over rate the player; he is not as good as u guys think. Now put that pipe away, and lets have smart basketball talk...

  16. Anonymous says:

I really hope Jeff is ok but I dont think its anything detrimental. Him,PP, nor Rondo have been able to practice so more trades are not needed as of now. It will be an interesting season to say the least....

  17. Anonymous says:

First and foremost his health is the most important thing so I hope for his sake he makes a full recovery. Shame on those automatically bashing him for basketball reasons!

    Nick.

  18. Anonymous says:

If you read between the lines its serious... probably more serious than basketball. Best wishes to JG, hope its not a career ender, but lets not forget about #35, life is bigger than worrying about about trades and roster moves

  19. Who cares about the Perk trade? I hope this is nothing serious with Green for his sake.

  20. Anonymous says:

Who the F are you? exactly, do you know Perk personally? If not STFU. Perk was absolutely gutted when he was traded, he said he never wanted to leave Boston. Understand this and understand it well, Perk left because Danny traded him, plain and simple. Same with TA.

Now with Green's health and career in serious jeopardy we could be looking at being seriously fucked this season. I wish Green well, but his life comes first, but if the results tomorrow come back negative then Danny got a whole lot of his head stuck up his ass.

  21. Anonymous says:

    ^TA wasn't traded...

  22. Anonymous says:

Agreed, Perk did not want to leave. I never liked Green. He's too soft. We need to get somebody!

  23. V for vendetta says:

O pls shut up already with perkins its sickening ...prayers go to jeff if serious

  24. Ben says:

Saying we lost Perk and Nate for nothing is ridiculous. Someone's life is much more important than any game. It'd be sad if he had to retire because he's coming in his prime and this is a key career. I hope it's no big deal and he's back soon!

    Come on Uncle Jeff!

  25. Anonymous says:

Uhhh the Celtics had Bird rights on Green because of the trade (hence the ability to pay $9m), but no bird rights on West because he was signed as a free agent (hence they could only offer the same as every other team - vet. min). Utterly irrelevant.

  26. Anonymous says:

I hope Green is alright. You never want to see anyone in bad health. I believe the Celtics should have the 9 million to use if green doesn't pass the physical. Am I wrong?
