I'm not 100% sure if this is a good thing or not, but hopefully the threat of decertification will lead to the owners upping their offer tomorrow. From what I've been led to believe if the players decertify from the union, things then get messy and there won't be any quick resolution (thus no basketball any time soon). Again hopefully simply the threat helps get a deal done. Paul Pierce is due a lot of money this season and he doesn't have that many left, so like KG a few weeks ago, he's fighting more for the young players in the league, even if it hurts him more financially. The pity of all this is the players simply want to play ball and have made tremendous concessions to the owners. The owners just need to accept their win already and stop going for the mercy rule.

  1. In the NFL lockout the players union decertified and everything turned out fine. There was just a long grueling (but way faster than it would normally take) court process where a judge had to rule whether or not the lockout was legal, and she said it wasn't so there was going to be football, then some other judges in like Minnesota were like fudge that we're going to have a lockout. Of course, this all started in March and then the lockout was over in July.

So yeah, if the union decertifies there won't be a season.
