NESN reports that Boston now looks likely to trade the 25th overall pick in this year's draft. While nothing is official this news should not come as shocking given the perceived ineptitude of this year's draft class.

The following quotes are from the NESN article made by Danny Ainge via the Celtics Twitter feed:
"It's not a strong draft. There's not a lot of players who could change a franchise."
"Historically, the odds of a #25 draft pick breaking into a rotation is like 6%."
"The last thing I wanna do...because we're trying to win...is put inexperienced players under Doc. It's a delicate balance."
The debate about where the Celtics needed to improve the most became a moot point with the news of Nenad Krstic signing overseas. We need a "BIG" but does Danny feel the same way?

Ainge likely has his eyes set on a handful of players and consequently probably has a plan to trade the pick should his desired players be taken off the board. Stay tuned.

  1. I'd love to see the Celts go after Dalembert. Obviously he's a free agent so it's not like they could trade the pick for him, but I think he'd be a great fit.

  2. DH says:

I want to see Danny go after Nene. I really doubt we will be able to get Howard, and Nene is a free agent and seems like a good option. He and Perk went at it a lot on the OKC - Denver series this year, I like his tenacity.

Seriously, I think that is one of the best Draft in years. A lot of good options, but he is Ainge... The idiot Ainge.

  6. WShaw says:

If Ainge does give up the pick it would almost assure he knows there is a free agent the Celtics can get. When he made all those moves at the deadline he was pretty confident that Murphy would be joining us after a buy out. Granted that didn't work out so well but he always has some sort of plan.

  7. Rondo>me says:

@anon, Johnson may have been a Laker, but HIV is nothing to make fun of. that's just disrespectful, even if the recipient happens to have played on the team you hate the most.

  8. Nicholas says:

@anon, mate that is just plain distasteful, go troll the internet somewhere else!

  9. Celtics fans have class. Show some respect anon, this isn't something to make fun about. Magic Johnson was a great player. Period.

  12. Brandon Dubois says:

Nene would be a good choice but he might be a bit expensive, Dalembert is another good fit but he is getting up there in age and we need to get younger
