Quantcast

According to the Boston Globe Clifford Ray was indeed let go by the Celtics. To me this decision might even make less sense than letting Leon Powe go last year over a couple hundred thousand. I know Danny isn't into loyalty like Red was, but come on now? He's the kind of coach teams wish they had. And if he wasn't canned prior to the season (another lousy move), I'm sure he would have had plenty of suitors for his services. I can't imagine any reason to get rid of Ray. What was his breath from the second row too much to take? Very uncool. The Globe's Ray of Sunshine is worth a read, as is FL's Clifford Ray- A Big Loss.

I have read these articles- it's not clear WHY he was let go. One of the comments in the Julian Bimbo article mentions Dave Cownens is primed to be his replacement.

Or is it McHale? Who I am convinced will be Celtics coach next season...

  2. Regardless of why he was let go, the Celtics are getting the reputation of doing people wrong. That's not a good reputation to have if you are a team hoping to lure free agents. Red always put loyalty very high on his list. Danny apparently never heard of it. Things like this have a way of coming back to bite you.

I wouldn't be so harsh. At least not untill/unless the reason to this is official.

  4. I'm still a little bitter from how Danny treated Leon, too.

I continue to dislike Ainge's decisions. Letting Leon go was a slap in the face to a kid who took one for the team. Allowing TA to go will be another mistake come back to haunt us. Oh but we did pick up grandpa Shaq! I hope Clifford gets a great offer from someone. We WILL miss him! Thanks Danny.
