Coming off of a turbulent 2009-2010 campaign that began with him in Greece and ended with him returning to the States well before the end of Euro League play, the 6-5 Wafer is glad to be playing ball on this side of the Atlantic again.

“I wasn’t always sure I’d be back,” says Wafer. “it’s unbelievable. I’m just so happy to be back. I’m just so happy.”

Two seasons ago, by dint of his above average jumper and strong forays to the cup, Wafer averaged 9.7 ppg in just 19.4 mpg for the Houston Rockets. While it’s unclear what his exact role will be with the Celtics and how much scoring they’ll be looking for out of him, after a conversation with Coach Doc Rivers, Wafer sees himself filling in wherever the team needs.

“I just hope to help the team,” says the 25-year-old over the phone. “I’m all about the team first. I want to do anything I can to help make this a better team. Coach Rivers said, ‘If you’re not going to be a team player I don’t want you here.’ So I’m just gonna do my best to help make us a stronger group.”

The former 39th overall pick becomes the second Boston Celtics to hail from Louisiana, joining Glen “Big Baby” Davis—though he hasn’t yet had the chance to speak with any of his new teammates.

“I haven’t talked to them,” says the former Florida State star, “but I have a relationship with Paul Pierce and Big Baby.”

Currently in Los Angeles, VW plans on flying out to Boston early next week.

“I’m gonna leave Sunday,” Wafer says. “Then I’m gonna stay up in Boston, try to work with the coaches to get familiar with the defensive schemes, learn the plays and get more familiar with everybody up there.”
If he's healthy I think Wafer can be a nice boost to our bench. He's had issues before butting heads with coaches, so I like how Doc let him know up front his expectations. Still would like to see the Celtics make a play for Rudy Fernandez. I have a feeling he's going to end up in Chicago and at some point we'll regret passing on acquiring Rudy.

Trades on hold until tomorrow when the blazers gm has a meeting with their coach But he aint going to ny cause they aint go draft picks till 2014.
Bulls dont have anything their willing to give up besides james johnson who was rejected in a trade. They released Gomes and are 2 mill under the cap which they will increase with all the salaries this season. So if their dumping people give a few picks away and were not rebuilding yet so they cant help that much, and give em sheeds contract. A few picks is worth the value of rudy seeing how his contract is 1 mil. No one knows yet lets just hope this will make the off season a splash for the c's

Sam Smith is reporting that the Bulls have now offered Taj Gibson. Hey we could of had Rudy for cash a few years ago when the Suns were selling their pick. I wanted the Celtics to buy that pick n 2007. Imagine if the Celtics had bought that pick and then drafted Marc Gasol instead of Gabe Pruitt?

Another gamble. VW has (had?) the skill, the athleticism, jump-shot with range...

L.A is not gambling. We have a huuuuuge pre-season ´till first game, and a monstrous effort to the playoffs. Plans need to be made (and executed) NOW, not in february.

Like Ray Sweet Ray said weeks ago, the whole LJ affair made a tremendous mess in the whole FA market. The C´s cannot afford another "Marquis" situation. And Daniels is on the roster!!
Of course, it is not easy to find "cheap" players who will prove themselves useful to the team as the season goes on. It´s too early to create an opinion, but it´s getting too late to gamble...

I hope we can get Rudy and Przybilla from the Blazers though it seems that Chicago (again grrrrr!) is leading the teams interested in (stealing yet again players for the Cs) Fernandez. I am starting to dislike the Bulls
