The Celtics have reportedly signed 7-foot Center, Semih Erden, whom they drafted 60th overall in 2008. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but it's likely just for summer league play.

Erden has had some success outside of the NBA playing for the Turkish league. Last season, as a starter for Fenerbahce Ulker, he shot an impressive 62.4% from the field on route to a championship. In late August, he will be representing his country in the FIBA World Championship alongside Hedo Turkoglu.

You can watch Erden and the Celtics take on the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at 5pm.

As a Turkish Celtics fan, I've a few things to say about him.

Erden, as of now, is not fit for NBA. Don't expect him to shine out in Summer League games, that won't happen. He's probably going through culture shock, is still jetlagged etc.

Erden is a decent blocker, but for European standards. He uses his physique efficiently, but for European standards. He has a decent post game, but for European standards... The list goes on.

He needs to go to the gym and work out like hell. He needs to put on some upper body muscle in the coming months. If he has time left, he needs to improve his mid-range shooting, because that is one way for a European center to stand out in NBA. He also needs to realize (and I'm sure he will) that his physical advantage for European basketball is loooooong gone in NBA.

I seriously hope that he'll do well and depth to Celtics squad. But that needs work. A lot of work.
