After recent discussions with Amar’e Stoudemire’s agent that didn’t appear to destine a contract extension, the Phoenix Suns have increased their efforts to trade the All-Star forward, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday night.

League executives say the Suns have become more active initiating talks over the past few days, and believe the franchise will take the best offer for Stoudemire before the Feb. 18 trade deadline. The Chicago Bulls,Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets and Detroit Pistons are among multiple teams that have a strong interest in Stoudemire, sources say. The Arizona Republic reported Sunday night that the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have also inquired about Stoudemire.
I don't believe the Cavs have the chips to get Amar'e, so I suppose the most dangerous landing spots would be Chicago and Miami, two teams rumored to be interested in signing Stoudemire in the Summer. If the Bulls get a deal done centered around Tyrus Thomas, their team would look suddenly pretty scary. Seem like a perfect fit, but keep in mind that Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf has a tendency to get involved and mess up big deals (see Gasol, Kobe, D'Antoni... not wanting to continue to pay for the Bulls dynasty back in '98).

For the Heat, I'd think they'd be reluctant to move Michael Beasley and if they could keep him, a Wade, Amar'e, Beasley threesome would be very formidable. Should be interesting, because while Stoudemire is not in the Wade/Lebron class of players, he is good enough to make a good team a contender.

Stat's agent's name is Happy Walters. I wonder if that's really Rex Walters going under a new first name.

I think he's Rex Walters and Happy Gilmore's illegitimate love child...

Stoudemire is a beast. Who would the Bulls give up for him, half their team?

  4. tb727 says:

    Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas

is that a joke?! I guess there must be some salary stuff because that is a Gasol like trade.

I feel bad for Nash, he deserves better.

Come on Karl, you're the salary expert ;)

And actually no that's not close to being worse than Gasol, that's 2 immediate rotation players on a playoff team. Hinrich's underrated and Thomas has that potential tag still...

  9. What! Well ya not as bad as Gasol but Stoudemire is a 20-10 guy.
