I think it was around free throw #80 in the game that Mike Gorman and Tommy Heinsohn took notice of all the fouls last night. The grand total was 75 personals and 2 technicals. The Celtics had 35 of the personals and half of the technicals, which is to say, one.

Thaaaaat's right! It's almost so obvious you think it's impossible, but big man Rasheed Wallace comes up with his first technical foul as a Celtic in the very first game of the preseason! Technically, that's hilarious.

Joey Dorsey for the Rockets fouled out, no Celtics ended up with 6. Perk had 5, as well as Hudson who actually played enough guard to get five fouls, and Sweetney, our new nose tackle. Seriously that dude is frickin HUGE.

Were the calls valid? Most were, as it seems like the new officials are taking their job very seriously. They did however call a lot of nothing as fouls. To be honest, I thought they did a good job overall. While the occasional whistle for no reason is annoying, it's better than what we were used to (make up calls, guessing, profit-enhancing calls, gambling-induced calls etc.). So after over literally 100 free throws and what seemed like a 4-hour-game, the refs were so high on oxygen-deficiency from whistle-blowing that they were calling roughing the passer and trying to back everyone up 15 yards. At least it made the end of the game more interesting.
