What makes NYC the mecca of basketball? They haven't had an All Star since Marbury or a Hall of Famer since who, Tiny Archibald? Totally overrated.
The best thing is if he goes to the Knicks and they still don't win a title. Almost 40 years now.
Seriously fuck the Knicks.
As a New Yorker and a Celtics fan I find myself in a difficult position when it comes to the mecca of basketball discussion. It was never really based on what the pros were doing, though it helps when the Knicks and Nets are having success. I HATE the Knicks, the organization got SO BAD before Walsh stepped in, but at least he brought some class and valued experience.
The Mecca comes from the rich high school history, the parks and much of the college magic over the years. The Big East tournament over the past 5 years has been absolutely incredible at MSG.
As long as the Knicks don't get LeBron there will be nothing to worry about. I think they'll end up with Joe Johnson as I think LeBron is staying put in Cleveland.
