Is Kyrie recruiting Kevin Durant? At the ASG, it sure looked like it

Just before the Superbowl, some intelligence cropped up that ought to have set the NBA afire, yet somehow only managed a few sparks.

That intel, that the Boston Celtics and Kevin Durant might have mutual interest in linking up this summer, was lost amid the din of Anthony Davis' trade request (and, of course, said Superbowl).

Note Kyrie Irving is the only player left on the court for KD's award. Coincidence? Probably, but an intriguing one!

Once again, we saw the 2019 NBA All-Star game serve -- mostly in jest -- as a recruiting vehicle, with LeBron James taking basically every pending free agent in the exhibition tilt, and Giannis Antetokounmpo make tampering jokes.

But you can bet your bottom dollar that not all the recruitment posturing was a joke, nor so obvious, either.

Take, for example, the many such observations that Kyrie Irving seems to have been doing exactly that with KD:

I won't speculate more than I already have about the logistics and contexts of making such a move more than a pipe dream, but it's something we should think about more seriously than we have - and after the dizzying career of the AD roller coaster, it's sounding more refreshing than ever, even after the Hamptons flub a few summers ago.
