Report: two-way guard Walter Lemon Jr. waived by Boston

The Walter Lemon era was over before it began, it seems.

Yahoo Sport's Shams Charania is reporting Boston Celtics' two-way guard Walter Lemon Jr. has been waived by the team. Lemon, who has played in the NBAs G-League and briefly for the New Orleans Pelicans after going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, where he averaged 3.4 points and an assist per game over the five tilts he played for that franchise.

Lemon never played with the Celtics despite averaging nearly 24 points and six assists per game with the Maine Red Claws. It's unknown why Boston made the move now, but it could signal a change in plans, though likely merely to make room for another prospect seen to be more promising for the team's future needs.
