Report: Marcus Smart may return as soon as Game 6 on Thursday
Whatever happens today, reinforcements are on their way.
The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach is reporting Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart may be able to return to action as soon as this Thursday for Game Six in the first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Smart, who has missed several weeks after an operation to repair a damaged tendon in his thumb, injured diving for a ball in one of his signature performances on the defensive end, has been participating fully in everything save live-action basketball, and only awaits clearance from his doctor to play.
After the news his mother has been diagnosed with cancer, Smart has been eager to retake the court to help his team and lift his mother's spirits. He will reportedly see said doctor next Tuesday to determine whether he can return to a Boston team in desperate need of defensive stops - fingers crossed.
