Two-way star, lockdown defender, Mikal Bridges - #10 in mock draft

Villanova remains undefeated in NCAA basketball competition with a record of 10-0. A large part of the reason for the record is junior Mikal Bridges. Bridges just moved up in SI's 2018 mock draft to #10. Here is SI's Jeremy Woo on Bridges' potential:

10. MIKAL BRIDGES, F, VILLANOVA | JUNIOR

Height: 6'7" | Weight: 210 | Age: 21 | Last: 23

Bridges has emerged as a lottery-caliber prospect, with an improved offensive game now accompanying the impressive measurables that make him an impact defender. He moves well on the perimeter, can defend four positions, blocks shots and consistently generates steals with his 7’0” wingspan. Bridges’ improved aggressiveness on offense has answered the questions about his motor, and he has the kind of versatility that plays particularly well in a fast-paced game. Continuing to thrive in his increased scoring role will be key.

NBA scouts need to look closely at players on strong, winning teams where there are at least two true stars. Jalen Brunson joins Bridges on this Villanova team that was recently ranked number one in the nation in AP's rankings. Brunson is having a terrific season alongside Bridges and is also vital in the Wildcats' success.

The fact that Brunson's presence may diminish Bridges' production is scary, because Mikal is averaging 18.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.3 BPG and 2.1 SPG. His field goals are hitting at a 54.8% clip, his threes at 48.1% and his free throws at 80.6%. Here is SBNation's Rickie O'Donnell on Bridges' versatility:

Now Mikal Bridges is the co-star alongside Jalen Brunson for one of the best teams in the country. He’s a two-way superstar who plays frantic, lockdown defense and knocks down 51 percent of his threes. He’s also emerging into a likely NBA lottery pick.

Bridges may not be done rising in the mock draft rankings. He is the type of versatile wing that many NBA teams look for. At 6'7", 7' wingspan, 210 pounds, "two-way superstar who plays frantic, lockdown defense and knocks down 51 percent of his threes". He will be scouted by the Celtics.
