Celtics to play 76ers in London January 11th, 2018

The Boston Celtics will play in London, England this January according to the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett.

The game, part of the NBA's Global Games initiative designed to boost popularity of the league and sport around the world, will be played on the 11th of January, 2018, and will set the Celtics against the Philadelphia 76ers. Previous iterations of the Global Games have seen regular-season matches played in locations ranging from Mexico City, Mexico, London and several locations in Japan, with preseason games having been played at many more locations worldwide ranging from locations in China, Brasil, France, and Spain, to Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico and Santo Domingo.

The 76ers-Celtics matchup will count as a home game for the 76ers, though really this means little to the Celtics apart from box score designations and perhaps uniform choice. The venue will be the O2 Arena, where Boston has previously played the Minnesota Timberwolves in a preseason game in 2007.
