Knicks fire Phil Jackson

Sneaky genius move on Phil Jackson's part laying low for a bit until Dolan agreed to pick up $24 million option on his contract. Then after he had his money in the bank, Jackson threatens to trade the team's young centerpiece, falls asleep in draft workouts, and basically does everything he can to get fired. Phil gets an additional $24 million on his way out.

Red Auerbach remains the G.O.A.T. for being able to both coach and GM teams to 11 championships (Phil was only the coach) and build/create teams that won a total of 16 championships under his leadership. Jackson ends up a huge failure in the latter category.
