Guerschon Yabusele officially joins Maine Red Claws, may play Friday

Boston Celtics big man Guerschon Yabusele has secured his work visa, and may join the Maine Red Claws as soon as this Friday for a game in Greensboro, North Carolina versus the Charlotte Hornets NBA D-League affiliate, the Swarm.

Yabusele, affectionately known as "the Dancing Bear" for his unusually mobile frame given his size (six feet, eight inches and 260 pounds), spent much of this NBA season overseas, playing for the Shanghai Sharks along with Jimmer Fredette and putting up significant numbers (he averaged nearly 21 points, 10 rebounds and a block per game) before coming over to the US early this month in anticipation of joining the Red Claws. Yabusele was nursing a minor ankle sprain, but it seems like he may be close to full health if he's being discussed as potentially available Friday. He will not, however, be playing with the Celtics this season, as it would start his rookie-scale deal this season, which may be an important tool in meeting salary cap and free agency goals this season onward.
