The Boston Celtics are back in the win column after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 113-99 at the TD Garden on Monday night.
Amir Johnson and Jared Sullinger were both absent from the Celtics' starting line up due to plantar fasciitis and back spasms (respectively), but the most disappointing scratch was Kevin Garnett, who was resting on the second night of a back-to-back for the Timberwolves. Nevertheless, the Garden crowd was relentless in calling for him.
Boston had 6 players scoring in double figures, led by Kelly Olynyk with 19, followed by Jae Crowder (18), Tyler Zeller (14), Avery Bradley (13), David Lee (13), and Jonas Jerebko (12). Olynyk also did this to Karl-Anthony Towns:
Crowder was the only Celtic to rebound in double figures (10). Isaiah Thomas had an unusually quiet scoring night with 8 points, but recorded 12 assists.
RJ Hunter saw significant playing time with 19 minutes, scoring 7 points -- 3 of which came from a ridiculous half court buzzer beater at the end of the 1st quarter.
Perhaps the highlight of the night though was watching Kevin Garnett's reaction to Gino Time, always a favorite for him when he donned the green and white. KG got a bit emotional and acknowledged the cheering crowd.
