Jonathan Holmes to sign with Los Angeles Lakers

RealGM.com reports that Celtic summer leaguer Jonathan Holmes has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was pretty impressive in his brief time with the Celtics, averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Holmes was an intriguing addition to the summer league roster. He was an undrafted, 4 year player out of the University of Texas, and at 6'8" he showed the ability to play big and rebound as well as hit the outside shot. Holmes even drew some comparisons to Draymond Green, the current prototype for the stretch 4, and the type of player every organization is trying to identify.

The thought of him playing the stretch 4 for the Celtics makes a lot of sense, but there are simply too many guaranteed contracts and too many forwards on the roster right now. I was hoping Holmes would somehow end up starting the season with the Celtics D-league team, but as expected some other teams were interested after seeing him show his worth at summer league.
