Celtics defeat Nets 95 to 90 in preseason game 7

In the first ever 44 minute NBA game the Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets 95 to 90 today at the Barclays Center. Boston started off slow getting down early, but mounted a comeback in the second half and took the lead with feisty defense and big three pointers. The third quarter was where the Celtics played some awesome basketball, outscoring the opposition 33 to 14.

The Nets were playing without old friend Kevin Garnett, and it showed as the C’s got to the rim early and often. Jared Sullinger was going for a 20-20 game and maybe those extra few minutes impacted the final stat line, he finished with 21 points and 19 rebounds. Jarrett Jack came off the bench and played some big minutes for the Nets, he finished with 17 points.

My main take away from this game is Marcus Smart; this kid CAN ball. His defense was stellar, coming up with some huge steals and created offense off of his defense. He also knocked down some huge threes, supposedly a weakness in his game. I can’t wait to watch Smart progress over the year.

The Celtics play their final preseason game on Wednesday night versus the Brooklyn Nets at home.
