Steve Ballmer submits winning bid for Clippers at $2 billion

LA Times:
"Former Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer appears to
have won a frenetic bidding war for ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers, with a $2-billion offer that would set a record price for an NBA team."

Balmer bid higher than competitors that included Los Angeles-based investors Tony Ressler and Bruce Karsh and a group that included David Geffen and executives from the Guggenheim Group, the Chicago-based owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers."

If the Clippers can sell for $2 billion in a couple days, you have to wonder what the Lakers would be worth. And you wonder why LA has such a competitive advantage with free agents. Besides the the weather and the Hollywood factor that market is HUGE.

This is good news for Doc and the Clippers players and bad news for any Celtics fans hoping the 2015 first that we own of theirs was going to amount to something good. Clippers should be a powerhouse for years to come. Oh yeah and the $2 billion is chump change t Steve Ballmer. He's worth over $20 billion. As much as I'm content with the Celtics owners, I wouldn't mind seeing a multi billionaire own them one day. Someone that doesn't even bother being asked questions about the luxury tax, since it means nothing to them.
