Report: Celtics again lower asking price, now asking for Jordan + 2 first round picks

And the beat goes on.

Within the last few hours I wrote about how the Celtics, based on media reports, appeared to be badly losing the negotiations with the Clippers.

This solidifies that point even more.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, who is as plugged in as anyone, says that the Celtics have relented and are no longer asking for the Clippers to take either Courtney Lee or Jason Terry off their hands. Now, Boston is willing to take the Clippers offer of DeAndre Jordan as long as LA adds a 2nd 1st round pick (current deal has 1). From Woj's article.

After pushing for the Clippers to take back long-term contracts, the Celtics relented and have shown willingness to complete the deal for DeAndre Jordan and two first-round draft picks, sources said. The Clippers are willing to give the Celtics Jordan and one draft pick, but were resisting a second future pick, sources said.
The two teams are planning to talk again on Tuesday morning, and the fragile negotiations could climax over the draft pick compensation, sources said.
If the Clippers become the championship contenders that they expected this trade will make them, the additional draft pick would likely be near the end of the first round.

This is depressing. The deal honestly should be Jordan + 2 firsts + getting Lee or Terry off the books. The fact that Boston will only get Jordan + 2 firsts at best is not ideal.

Again, I wrote it several times in my last piece, the deal is not final, and therefore, neither is judgement. Danny still has time to make this work. But as of now, he appears to be simply taking whatever the Clippers will give him.

Danny is selling his car, and asked for $10,000. The Clippers offered $5,000. Danny responded by dropping the price to $7,500. The Clippers said "nope, $5,000". Now Danny has again dropped the price, this time to $6,000. Even if the Clippers make the deal, he's already lost. And the way things are going I'd expect them to say no, offer 5K again, and wait for him to just take their original offer. Why not keep trying until it stops working?

Ok that's enough, I'm going to bed before Woj comes out with another article.
